Stakeholders’ meeting and round table discussion – 26 June 2007

We welcomed ESAE members, supporters and stakeholders on 26 June in Brussels, for a morning of discussion focusing on the future of associations in Europe and the future of ESAE.

I’d like to thank Emmanuel Brault, Secrétaire Général of CEDAP, and Pablo Serrano of ASPACK for their inside look into the organisation, challenges and objectives of national societies of association executives in France and Spain– offering a range of models prompting discussion and suggestions for action. Presentations can be downloaded from the ESAE website.

ESAE’s future activity was debated, inviting participants to look at ways to benchmark activities, communicate more effectively, establish and promote best practice, and support the growing need for qualifications and professionalisation. Read the stakeholders’ report for full details.

Welcome and thanks: changes to the ESAE Board
The ESAE AGM welcomed new members to the ESAE Board – Milagros Mostaza-Corral (Associate Director, Interel, Belgium), Rachel Barlow (Vice President, Kellen Europe, Belgium), Josef Schoppig (Partner, AC-Treuhand, Switzerland), Susan Sarfati (President and CEO, The Center for Association Leadership and Executive Vice President, ASAE, USA) and John Graham (President and CEO, ASAE, USA.)

At the same time, I’d like to extend my sincere thanks to Alfons Westgeest (Managing Partner, Kellen) for his hard work and dedication to ESAE over the past ten years; Alfons has stepped down from the ESAE Board as of the recent AGM. I would also like to thank former Board members Denys Correll (Executive Director, International Council on Social Welfare), Jeff Raynes (Executive Director and COO, IEEE) and Sherry Keramidas (Executive Director, RAPS) who have now resigned their Board positions.
